Impact
Collaborative works with executive directors to increase their success
as organizational leaders.
For
individual executive directors who want to improve their management
skills we provide one-on-one coaching services. For membership organizations
or funders that want to build the leadership capacity of the organizations
they serve or fund, we run workshops focusing on specific aspects of
leadership development, coaching for grantees or members and executive
growth groups that provide a combination of peer support, mentorship
and targeted discussions about specific managerial issues.
Recently,
Impact Collaborative has entered into a partnership with Bates
Consulting. This partnership was formed to provide services that
would increase the capacity of nonprofit executive directors. Visit

Coaching
Services
Our one-on-one coaching process, targeted toward executive directors
or other top managers, involves:
- working
with executive directors or deputy directors to define the areas they
want to work on during coaching sessions
- meeting
weekly or monthly to focus on desired areas of growth, specific challenges
or crises that need resolution
- using
goal-setting and targeted exercises between coaching sessions to continue
work on specific behaviors or to achieve discrete goals
- periodically
evaluating the results achieved through the coaching process, with
an eye to deciding whether the work has accomplished the desired goals.
Executive
Growth Groups
Executive growth groups bring together 8 to 12 nonprofit executives
and 1 or 2 experienced mentors who volunteer their time on a pro
bono basis. These groups offer nonprofit executives who are grappling
with similar challenges an opportunity to benefit from each other's
experiences as well as the chance to learn from the wisdom of experienced
nonprofit mentors. They also provide participants with a trusted coterie
of peer advisors to whom they can turn between meetings. We have seen
firsthand the impact of such groups and believe they offer a valuable
management-development resource to small nonprofits that are resource-strapped
and have little management depth.
Once
a membership organization or funder had decided that it wants to provide
this resource to its members or grantees, we work with the sponsoring
organization to structure the groups and find mentors, technical assistance
providers and a group facilitator.
